“Which was the best sight you saw while you were on your trip?” is one of the highest rated questions that come across any traveler, and trust me, it’s hard to answer such a question as my mind starts flip flopping the whole journey and to answer just one destination is impolite.

But in my journey to Canada, amongst all the destinations, witnessing the sights of Belugas in Churchill stands as the “must-see”.

The day when I was in Churchill was a sunny and warm day, making the best circumstances to get a rendezvous with the Belugas during the snorkeling. As I was on the boat, it was really thrilling to watch the animals come up at the boat. I had the fear of jumping into the freezing water, but I wanted to have such an experience and hence all the time I was thinking about how I can turn down this experience. I wore a wet suit and leaped into the water. I went on the Macro’s boat to get quicker and closer look of the Belugas. Several of white backs rise and jumped into the water, all this happened around us. Swimming with the whush whush sounds of the grey ones was actually clear. One of my photographer friends was waiting to click Belugas as their head peep out of the water.

On Day two, we kayaked with the Belugas. Unlike other whale, belugas can turn their head and can share an eye with us. Few of them even touched our hands in the water and one of the fellow man on the boat exclaimed, “They sense like boiled eggs with no shells”. The final note in the end about these belugas is they were really amazing in this frontier town where the sky line has its own vertical horizons, and is a custom made for love in summer.
